Dairy
Operations |
|
|
Zambeef milks approximately 800 cows producing 18,000 litres of milk
per day at Kalundu Farm in Chisamba. The dairy herd was relocated to
Kalundu Farm in January 2000 where a brand new dairy parlour and TMR
feeding sheds were built using the latest new Zealand technology and
equipment. This milk is pasteurized and homogenized at
the packaging plant at Huntley Farm. It is then packaged and
sold under the brand name ZAM MILK. The dairy dividion has already
become on of Zambeefs most successful divisions with sales being
restricted by supply. As a result, Zambeef plans to continue to expand
its dairy herd. In addition, Zambeef is in the process of
commissioning a modern cheese plant which will further boost the dairy
division.

Transport
and workshop |
|
|
Zambeef currently operates a fleet of approximately 50 cattle trucks,
regrigerated meat vans, articulated refrigerated trucks, tractors and
other vehicles. All the meat, cattle and feed coming to and from
Zambeefs operations are transported in the companys own vehicles
which are also maintained in Zambeefs own workshop. This enables
the company to control distribution and ensures that the utilization
of vehicles is maximized.
